Ubisoft has decided to postpone the closure of the ‘online’ servers of some of its games until next October 1 and save one of them, Year 2070which will finally retain its features online.
The French developer and distributor announced the closure of the servers of dozens of its games to PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Wii U at the end of last April.
He then indicated that single-player features for the affected titles would still be available, though in addition to multiplayer, he disabled in-game news and player-face stats.
In July, Ubisoft expanded the list of closed servers with 15 titles that it would leave without an ‘online’ mode as of September 1. Among them were Far Cry 3 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands for PC and several games in the Assasin’s Creed saga, such as II (PC and PS3), 3 (PC, P3 , Wii U and Xbox) and Brotherhood (PC, PS3 and XBOX 360).
Now, the French company has announced the delay of this date in a published statement on your websitewhere it has indicated that it will finally proceed to close these servers on October 1.
In addition, he has pointed out that the downloadable content (DLCfor its acronym in English) single player of the affected titles on PC will be available for download until that date.
To continue accessing these contents, users must activate the DLC before October 1. However, players will still be able to download and play them even after that deadline.
Ubisoft has distinguished two exceptions from the list of affected games. On the one hand, the strategy game Anno 2070, which will finally retain its ‘online’ functions, since a section of its developer team, Ubisoft Mainz, has replaced and upgraded its old services.
However, the developer has indicated that it is no longer possible to access online or use the multiplayer format of Space Junkies from this September 1, as planned at first.
