MADRID Jan. 9 () –
The Government of the United Arab Emirates announced this Wednesday the inclusion of eight entities based in the United Kingdom, as well as eleven people with different nationalities, on its terrorism list for alleged links with the Muslim Brotherhood.
The entities identified are the study center ‘Cambridge Education and Training Center LTD’, ‘IMA6INE LTD’, ‘Wembley Tree’, ‘Waslaforall’, ‘Future Graduates’, ‘Yas for Investment and Real Estate’, ‘Holdco UK Properties Limited ‘ and ‘Nafel Capital’, according to the state news agency WAM.
On the other hand, the majority of those appointed have Emirati nationality, although there is a Swedish man whose previous nationality was Liberian, and a Yemeni. In addition, there are two men with dual nationality: a Turkish-Emirati and a Swedish-Emirati.
This decision has been communicated after the approval of the country’s cabinet, citing “continuous efforts by the UAE, both locally and internationally, to identify and dismantle networks linked to the financing of terrorism and related activities, both directly and indirectly.”
The Muslim Brotherhood, one of the most important Muslim organizations in the world, was declared a terrorist organization in 2014 by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, followed by Bahrain and Egypt.
A year earlier, Abu Dhabi tried almost a hundred activists, lawyers, students, teachers and other critics of the government, accused of belonging to the banned organization in a process criticized by humanitarian organizations as an excuse to orchestrate political persecution.
