U. de Chile bids farewell to Consuelo Zambra, a Bachelor of International Studies student

The young woman, who was in an exchange process in the Czech Republic, at the Charles University in Prague, died in a traffic accident in that city on Monday, January 30.

“As an academic community we are very affected by the death of Consuelo Zambra,” said the director of the Institute of International Studies (IEI), Dorotea López, who added that the student, “during her time at the University, she always demonstrated a strong vocation as an internationalist and a constant commitment to learning and getting to know the world. We will especially remember her for her great human quality. For us it is a tremendous loss and, without a doubt, our thoughts today are with her family, friends and colleagues, to whom we send a lot of strength ”.

Consuelo, he added, “was an exceptional person, who in 2018 came from Iquique. She always sought to improve herself, participating in courses, diplomas, research projects, among others. In each of us she left a very significant mark and we will miss her”.

From the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities, a unit on which this degree also depends, its academic director, Mauricio Folchi, pointed out that “the loss of a young student like Consuelo has shocked us, because during her time in the Bachelor of International Studies we were able to meet a brilliant and enthusiastic student, committed to her vocation as an internationalist as mentioned by the Institute of International Studies, who leaves a deep mark on her generation, her professors and professors and the community of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities. We are very sad. We send our sincere condolences to her family and close ones.”

The community of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities, activated a campaign to financially support the student’s family, whose information is available here.
