Four people have died, among them two Spanish women from Ceuta (Mina, 42, and Houda Marc, 10)as a result of an explosion that took place on Thursday in a residential building in the Belgian city of Hoboken, very close to Antwerp (north).

The explosion destroyed the upper floors of the building. Since then, firefighters have been working through the rubble to search for possible victims. After locating three bodies on Thursday, a fourth was found on Friday morning and work continues to search for a neighbor who has not given any news since the event.

“It is possible that he managed to free himself and, for one reason or another, has not yet contacted us,” explains Ninke Neyrinck from the Antwerp area fire brigade.

Most local residents will be able to spend the night at home, and only residents of the buildings adjacent to the incident will continue to stay in other places as a precaution, although they will be able to collect their basic belongings with the help of firefighters.

According to the first information, Mina and Houda Marc had traveled to Belgium to provide the best healthcare to the little girl, who had Down syndrome. In this sense, expressions of condolence have already arrived from both the school where the minor attended and the Down Syndrome Association of Ceuta: “Both were very loved by both the users and the professionals of the center,” the association stated. adding that this is an “irreparable loss” for everyone who knew them.
