Two Peruvian media sign agreement with China Media Group

( Spanish) –– América TV and the newspaper El Comercio signed an agreement this Friday with China Media Group (CMG) that aims for both Peruvian media to produce content for the Chinese conglomerate, Fernando Muñiz Bethancourt, CEO of América Multimedia, told this Tuesday. CMG is a state-run media conglomerate that includes China Central Television, China National Radio and China Radio International.

“In this collaboration agreement with China Media Group, a very large global media conglomerate in China. We are planning to explore the possibility of making products that work both in our market and in the Chinese market,” said Muñiz Bethancout.

The CEO of América Multimedia explained to that “they looked for us, América TV” approximately two months ago through Brazil’s China Media Group. Muñiz Bethancourt says that producing content for movie theaters in the Asian country is a possibility. “The president of China Media Group who came told us that in China there are 80,000 movie theaters and they are always looking for content for those screens” and added that “the idea is to explore the possibility of producing content for them that has to do with our culture and a mix with China and other products that travel through digital platforms that we are about to launch and be able to jointly make several co-productions.”

The agreement was signed at the historic headquarters of El Comercio, the newspaper also signed an agreement with the Chinese group as confirmed by Muñiz Betancourt and the newspaper itself this Sunday. The agreement occurred within the framework of the Asia Pacific Cooperation Forum summit that took place in Lima last week. According to the publication, the Chinese delegation that attended the newspaper to sign both documents was led by the vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Shen Haixiong, president and editor-in-chief of CMG.
