At least two Israeli citizens were seriously injured this Wednesday night after being run over by an alleged terrorist at one of the entry points of the West Bank city of Nablus, an incident that resulted in the escape of the perpetrator of the attack.
“Following the initial report, a large number of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops have begun pursuing the terrorist who carried out a drive-by attack at one of the entrances to Nablus and escaped,” reads a statement. of the IDF on his social network account X.
For its part, Israeli Army Radio has confirmed that there are two injured in serious condition and that the individual responsible for the attack has surrendered to the security forces of the Palestinian Authority.
Different Palestinian and Israeli media such as the Filastín newspaper or the Walla news portal have claimed that the victims have received “fatal injuries”, although the Israeli authorities have not commented on the matter.
Both the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Islamic Jihad have celebrated the attack, which they consider to be a response against Israeli “massacres” in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
“The heroic raid operation in Nablus is an extension of the state of anger and the rising tide of resistance in the West Bank, and is a natural response to a criminal enemy, which commits massacres without any respect for values, norms and laws international affairs,” Hamas said in a statement collected by Filastín.
Islamic Jihad has considered it to be a “response to the war of extermination in Gaza” and to the “attacks by the occupation Army and its settlers in the West Bank.”
After the attack, ‘Filastín’ has reported the start of an Israeli military operation in Nablus, where clashes have begun with the different Palestinian factions.
Israeli Army operations in the West Bank have been intensified following the attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, which left 1,200 dead and 240 hostages. Since then, at least 510 Palestinians have been killed in such actions by security forces and in attacks by Israeli settlers. In addition, the offensive on the Gaza Strip has left almost 36,200 Palestinians dead.
