Two Israeli soldiers have been injured near the Palestinian town of Nazlet Zeid, in the northern West Bank, near Jenin in an intentional hit-and-run. The two Palestinians who were traveling in the car are also injured.

The military opened fire on Palestinian suspects when they accelerated the vehicle with the intention of running over them, according to military sources quoted by the Israeli newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.

The Israeli Armed Forces have confirmed that there are two wounded soldiers, one of them hit by shrapnel as a result of the shots fired at the suspects.

The Rescuers Without Borders emergency service had previously reported that soldiers on patrol opened fire on a suspicious car that had rammed them.

One of them was hit by shrapnel in the leg and the second, aged 38, was taken by ambulance from the Red Star of David to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera. According to the health services, the first soldier has minor injuries and has been sent to Shaked control.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has reported that the two passengers in the vehicle are shot and have been taken to Jenin. One of them is in critical condition.
