September 2 () –
At least two people were injured early Monday morning after the Russian Army launched more than a dozen cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones against the Ukrainian city of kyiv, the country’s capital, where several fires have been reported.
“Russia has again attacked kyiv with missiles on the morning of September 2. Emergency services are working in the Sviatoshyn, Holosiiv and Shevchenkiv districts. At around 6.25 am (local time), two adults called for help from the medical services, one of them has been hospitalized,” Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said on his Telegram channel.
The new shelling caused a fire in a two-storey non-residential building in the Sviatoshyn district, the metro station of which was damaged but its operation was not affected.
Four cars caught fire in the same district after intercepted missile debris fell on them. Fires also broke out in the Holosiiv and Shevchenkiv districts, but have since been extinguished.
The military authorities in kyiv reported that the attack was carried out at 3:00 a.m. (local time) by Tupolev Tu-95 bombers, which approached from the south.
“After complex maneuvers, these missiles entered kyiv from the south. Simultaneously with the approach of the cruise missiles to the capital, the enemy launched KN-24/Iskander-M ballistic missiles at kyiv and its suburbs. An attack drone was also launched. More than a dozen cruise missiles and about a dozen ballistic missiles and an attack drone were destroyed by air defense forces and means in the airspace of the capital!” the city’s military chief, Colonel-General Serhiy Popko, said on his Telegram channel.
