Two different attacks in Tabasco, southern Mexico, leave 7 dead and 12 injured

( Spanish) –– The Attorney General’s Office of the Mexican state of Tabasco reported that in two separate events, seven people were killed and 12 were injured after groups of armed civilians broke into a bar and a wedding and attacked attendees at those places.

The security agency detailed that, during the early hours of this Sunday, a group of armed people entered the bar called “Dbar” located in a commercial and hotel area of ​​the Tabasco capital, shooting a man, without identifying him, and that other People who were nearby were affected.

According to information from the Prosecutor’s Office, the result of this violent event was six dead and 10 injured, who were transferred to various hospitals in Villahermosa to receive medical attention, without details of their state of health being available so far.

In relation to this attack on the bar, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, reported that the federal security cabinet is in coordination with state authorities to support the clarification of the attack.

In another violent event recorded in Tabasco on Saturday night, one person was killed and two more were injured when armed civilians broke into a wedding held in the Jalapa municipality.

The Tabasco government spokesperson confirmed this attack to , and explained that according to preliminary investigations the two acts of violence are not related in any way.

According to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System of Mexico, in October – the first month of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s government – ​​2,207 intentional homicides were recorded, which, compared to the 2,034 registered in the same month of 2023, means an increase of 8%.

Just on November 9, in Querétaro, an attack was recorded on a bar in the heart of the capital of that state, in which 10 people were killed and 13 more were injured.
