September 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least two people have died, 14 are missing and 13 have been rescued after the bus they were travelling in was swept away by the current on Friday afternoon in Ued Tata, southern Morocco.

Local authorities have reported the accident, which occurred on Friday afternoon, and another woman missing in Duar Ighurten, in the commune of Tagzmirt, according to the Moroccan portal LeSiteInfo.

Rivers in the area have reached very high levels, such as the Ued Tata, which has reached a flow of 2,300 cubic metres per second, or the Ued Zguid, with 1,900 cubic metres per second.

The rain has also caused partial or complete collapse of houses and infrastructure and significant damage to roads. The authorities have mobilised emergency services in view of the seriousness of the situation.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water has reported that 35 of the 44 roads that had been closed in the south of the country, especially in Tata province, have already been reopened.
