September 22 () –
At least two children have died in an explosion that occurred early Sunday morning in the Italian town of Saviano, located near Naples, an incident that also caused the building to collapse.
The Italian Fire Department said in a message on its social media account that “the father and a newborn were rescued alive, although unfortunately the lifeless bodies of two other children were found.”
“The search for the mother and another woman is continuing, with search operations taking part,” he said. The incident occurred at around 7:00 a.m., but the causes have not yet been clarified.
According to information gathered by the Italian news agency AdnKronos, the explosion was caused by a gas leak. A family of five and a woman lived in the two-storey building.
