Two lifeless bodies of migrants who intended to swim into Melilla have been recovered and transferred to the Al Hasani Hospital in Nador, according to the Nador section of the NGO Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH-Nador).
“The Nador funeral home has only received two bodies, one of them a minor, while there are families who continue to search for their children who were among the passengers of the Zodiac” used in the attempt to access the Spanish enclave on December 26. September, according to the statement published by the NGO on its Facebook page.
The organization has indicated that the reasons for the death of the two young people are unknown and has highlighted that the rest of the passengers on the boat arrived safely in Melilla, although they were immediately detained and handed over to the Moroccan authorities.
The passengers have been released, but the two people in charge of the boat remain detained, according to AMDH-Nador, which highlights that the initial objective was to reach the Andalusian coast, but after being intercepted by a Moroccan Navy ship, they diverted towards Melilla. .
AMDH-Nador has pointed out “Moroccan and Spanish migration policies” as “responsible for the emergence of migratory networks” and for the “victims among our youth.”
