This Thursday, search and rescue services located the bodies of two passengers between the carriages of a passenger train that derailed on Wednesday around the Russian city of Komi, in the northwest of the country, an event that also resulted in near of 70 injured.
Russian Railways has indicated in a statement published on its Telegram account that “the bodies of two people have been found at the site of the derailment” and has conveyed its “deep condolences” to the families and loved ones of the victims.
Likewise, he stressed that “so far it has not been possible to determine the whereabouts of another passenger” and has stated that “the search is underway”, so it cannot be ruled out that the death toll may increase in the coming hours.
“The relatives of the deceased victims will receive 2,250,000 rubles (about 24,320 euros) from the insurance. In addition, it has been decided to pay another two million rubles (about 21,620 euros) from the company,” said Ferrocarriles de Russia, which has also stated that the hospitalized wounded will receive one million rubles (approximately 10,810 euros), while the wounded who did not require hospitalization will receive 500,000 rubles (approximately 5,405 euros).
Finally, he stressed that he has already opened an investigation “to determine all the details of this tragic incident”, which took place around 6:10 p.m. (local time) on Wednesday, when nine carriages of a train that covered the route between Vorkuta and Novorossiysk. About 200 passengers and 20 workers from the railway company were traveling on the train.
