Twitter Tests New CoTweet Feature, Which Allows Co-Authoring of Posts

July 8. (Portaltic/EP) –

Twitter has started testing a new function called CoTweetwhich allows the co-authorship of tweets between users of the social network, in a similar way to the ‘Collabs’ of Instagram.

The reverse engineering expert Alessandro Paluzzi noticed this new feature at the end of last year, a functionality that it located in the code of the platform and indicated the users who had collaborated on a post.

Paluzzi noted at the time that Twitter’s co-authoring functionality is similar to Instagram’s Collabs, allowing you to share feed and reel content with another user. A) Yes, Both can spread the same post on their respective profiles.

Now, the social network has started testing CoTweet on select accounts in Canada, Korea and the United States for a limited time, according to in a statement published on its website.

Twitter refers to tweet co-authoring as an option that “helps the authors of a post unlock opportunities to engage new audiences and improve their partnerships.”

To access this feature, one of the users must create the CoTweet with the message they both want to convey and send an invitation to their co-author. This must be one of your followers or have a public account.

In the case of having received an invitation to appear in a CoTweet, the co-author can accept or reject it. If you choose to accept it, this shared tweet is posted to both accounts simultaneously.

Also, these CoTweets they will appear in the same way in the ‘timelines’ of their followers. To recognize who has CoTweet, both their profile pictures and their names will appear at the top of the post.

From Twitter they have indicated that, once published, these tweets cannot be edited. Instead, they can be retweeted, quoted, and include polls, GIFs, photos, videos, and links like other posts.

The company has also pointed out that only the original author of the ‘CoTweet’ can pin the tweet to their profile. Also, only the first tweet in a thread can be one of these posts, and neither author can promote them.

Finally, Twitter has warned that at the end of this test experiment in selected countries, you can disable the function. In this way, any CoTweet can be removed from the social network.
