The modification is already official in the desktop version of the platform, which can be accessed through the x.com domain, although the twitter.com address will also remain active. So far, the branding on the smartphone app has not changed.
On Saturday night, Musk made a post in which he said that the logo of the platform would change once someone shared one good enough to be the new image of the social network and the chosen one was that of someone named Sawyer Merritt, whose video with the new logo was pinned by Musk.
Before launching the new logo, Musk stressed that it is an interim image, so it could change later, as some users have pointed out that it is the X of a font type already existing and not a completely original design.
Last year, the businessman bought the social network for 44 billion pesos and although he had made changes, such as adding a paid subscription or restricting the number of posts that users see, this is the most important change to date.
The company will soon “say goodbye to the Twitter brand and gradually to all the birds,” it wrote in a post Sunday to usher in the new look, as part of its goal to turn the platform into a superapp.
For her part, Linda Yaccarino, the executive director of the social network, wrote her impressions regarding the name change and her claims for this new version of the platform.
“It’s an exceptionally rare thing, in life or in business, to get a second chance to make another great impression. Twitter made a great impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square,” he shared.
He explained that the interaction will focus on audio, video, messaging and payments/banking, which represents the change that the intentions of making a useful platform for ideas, goods and services demonstrate.
Yaccarino also said that it will be a platform powered by Artificial Intelligence and that all the changes that had been made to Twitter were aimed at getting to this stage.
“There is absolutely no limit to this transformation. X will be the platform that can deliver, well…everything,” Yaccarino shared in a series of…tweets?
Now what will the tweets be called?
Given this important brand change, users have been wondering what the publications will be called. Musk, who is the company’s CEO and CTO, said they will be called “x,” but regarding the retweets he said “the concept needs to be rethought.”
