The modification is already official in the desktop version of the platform, which can be accessed through the x.com domain, although the twitter.com address also remains active. So far, the branding on the smartphone app has not changed.
On Saturday night, Musk made a post in which he said that the logo of the platform would change once someone shared one good enough to be the new image of the social network and the chosen one was that of someone named Sawyer Merritt, whose video with the new logo was pinned by Musk.
Before launching the new logo, Musk stressed that it is an interim image, so it could change later, as some users have pointed out that it is the X of a font type already existing and not a completely original design.
Last year, the businessman bought the social network for 44 billion pesos and although he had made changes, such as adding a paid subscription or restricting the number of posts that users see, this is the most important change to date.
The company will soon “say goodbye to the Twitter brand and gradually to all the birds,” it wrote in a post Sunday to usher in the new look, as part of its goal to turn the platform into a superapp.
