18 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least twelve people have died from a series of avalanches registered in the last few hours in the Afghan province of Badajshan, located in the northeast of the country, due to heavy snowfall in the area, as confirmed by the authorities.
Official sources cited by the Afghan news agency Jaama Press have indicated that the avalanches have affected the districts of Ragistan and Deraim, where around 50 homes have also been destroyed.
The heavy snowfalls have also caused the closure of several mountain roads in the area in recent weeks, where several vehicles have been trapped in the midst of low temperatures that have caused the death of several of their occupants.
