“The evacuation of our citizens who have requested to leave Lebanon will take place tomorrow by sea. Two Turkish Navy ships with a total capacity for 2,000 passengers will leave today for Beirut,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Thus, he stated that the details about the evacuation process will be provided to people who contact the Consulate and stressed that “if necessary, evacuations will continue during the following days.” “Preparations have been completed to meet the needs of our citizens once they arrive in Türkiye,” he added.
On the other hand, he stressed that Ankara will send humanitarian aid to Lebanon on the ships that will be sent to Beirut, although he has not provided details about the materials or quantities that will be delivered.
Israel has described its invasion of Lebanon as a “selective and limited” operation against Hezbollah’s “terrorist targets and infrastructure.” The offensive was launched after nearly two weeks of intensified attacks and has been paralleled by an intensification of bombings against the capital, Beirut, and other areas of the country.
Lebanese authorities have reported more than 2,000 deaths from Israeli attacks over the past year, a figure that has risen dramatically over the past two weeks. In addition, thousands of people have been injured and nearly 1.2 million have been forced to flee their homes.
