The Turkish embassy in Sudan has announced that it is going to evacuate its citizens who are in Sudan this Sunday due to the chaotic situation that is currently being experienced in the capital, Khartoum, where the ceasefire was declared this Friday by the Army and paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has been cracking in recent hours.
“As a result of security assessments carried out in light of the ongoing conflicts in Sudan, it has been decided to evacuate our citizens, especially those in conflict zones, to our country via a third country tomorrow (Sunday April 23 )” they have indicated in a statement.
Citizens will have two meeting points, in a hotel and a mosque, starting at 06:00 (local time) and they have been instructed to wear comfortable shoes and clothing according to the journey that will last between 22 and 24 hours, their passport and hand luggage of maximum eight kilos where they must carry water and food.
They have indicated that they will have to be attentive to the WhatsApp groups and social networks of the embassy.
MORE COUNTRIES TRY TO EVACUATE THEIR STAFF
The United States has evacuated this Sunday all diplomats and their families from its embassy in Khartoum, Sudan, which has been closed with their departure from the country.
Countries like Saudi Arabia have already announced the evacuation of their diplomatic staff and nationals, Iraq has managed to withdraw its diplomatic service and Jordan has already begun preparations to remove its 300 citizens.
The United Kingdom has reported that it will evacuate its embassy in Sudan “as soon as possible”, and both China and France will begin to do so in the next few hours.
Spain and South Korea already have planes in Djibouti prepared to undertake the evacuation mission when the situation allows.
