The Turkish authorities announced this Monday the arrest of more than 215 people for alleged ties with the Islamic State in the framework of a series of operations carried out by security forces against the jihadist group in 45 provinces of the country.
The Turkish Interior Minister, Ali Yerlikaya, has specified in his account on the social network delivery of “financing” to the terrorist organization.
“We will not allow the terrorists to open their eyes. We will continue our fight without interruption and with the superior efforts of the security forces,” said Yerlikaya, who also praised the work of the Prosecutor’s Office and the security force agents involved in the operations.
Islamic State has carried out several attacks on Turkish soil in recent years, in which at least 300 people have died. The authorities have launched dozens of operations against the group and have announced the arrest of hundreds of suspects, including several senior officials of the organization.
