Six Turkish opposition parties have announced an agreement on Monday for Kemal Kiliçdaroglu to be the candidate of the National Alliance in the next general elections on May 14 and to dispute the Presidency with the current president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The leader of the Happiness Party, Temel Karamollaoglu, has announced the name of Kiliçdaroglu after a meeting held in the capital, Ankara, reports the Turkish press.
Kiliçdaroglu leads the main opposition party, the nationalist Republican People’s Party (CHP), which makes up the National Alliance along with the Happiness Party, the Iyi Party –Party of Good–, the Future Party, the DEVA Party – -Democracy and Progress Party– and the Democratic Party.
The leaders of the six parties were present at the meeting: Kiliçdaroglu, Karamollaoglu, Aksener (Iyi Party), Ahmet Davutoglu (Future Party), Ali Babacan (DEVA Party) and Gültekin Uysal (Democratic Party).
