MADRID Jan. 13 () –
The Turkish authorities have announced the arrest of a man suspected of the attack perpetrated in 2013 in the city of Reyhanli, located on the border with Syria, in an operation carried out in the Arab country, where Ankara supports the new authorities established after the fall of Bashar al Assad’s regime.
Security sources cited by the Turkish state news agency, Anatolia, have indicated that the Turkish Intelligence services identified the place where the suspect, identified as Muhamed Dib Korali, was hiding, who was detained by special forces in an operation carried out recently.
Turkish forces had already arrested in 2018 another alleged person responsible for the planning and execution of the attack, carried out with two car bombs and which left at least 52 dead and around 140 injured.
Ankara accused the Syrian authorities of being behind the attack, although Damascus distanced itself from them. In February 2018, a court sentenced nine people to life imprisonment and thirteen others to various prison terms for their role in the attacks.
