A fundraising campaign has been launched to support the solidarity initiatives being launched by the Apostolic Vicariate of Anatolia and the Friars Minor of the Custody of the Holy Land. How can you contribute?
Milan () – With an increasingly serious death toll and destruction, the PIME Foundation has decided to collaborate with its own fundraising in favor of the populations affected by the earthquake that devastated vast areas of Turkey and Syria.
“In the face of this catastrophe -explains the PIME Foundation at the launch of the campaign- although we do not have PIME missions and missionaries in that place, we cannot fail to be at the side of tens of thousands of brothers and sisters in need, both with concrete actions and with prayer”. That is why he has decided to open a fundraising campaign among his benefactors to offer help in the great drama of the earthquake to two concrete realities.
In Turkey, the PIME Foundation will send the donations to Caritas of the Apostolic Vicariate of Anatolia, the small Catholic community that lives in the area most affected by the earthquake and that at this time -as is always their way of acting- despite the serious damage suffered is mobilizing to welcome anyone in need in the structures that are still habitable. For PIME it is also a way of remembering the testimony of the Apostolic Vicar, Mons. Paolo Bizzeti, at the Center for Culture and Missionary Animation in Milan, in a beautiful evening that took place during Lent 2019 on the life of Christian communities in Turkey, between ancient roots and present challenges.
In northern Syria, on the other hand – where the damage from the earthquake is added to the wounds of a war that has been going on for twelve years and has never ended precisely in the most affected areas – despite the silence that has reigned for a long time about this conflict – The aid collected by the Pime Foundation will be given to the Friars Minor of the Custody of the Holy Land who carry out their ministry in these difficult lands. In Aleppo, in this case too, measures were immediately taken to help those most in need.
