The Turkish government has announced the immediate transfer of its embassy in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, to the coastal city of Port Sudan after confirming an attack against its ambassador’s entourage in the African country amid clashes between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), fortunately without victims.
“None of our brothers, ambassadors or guards have been injured but the vehicle has been damaged,” Cavusoglu said about the attack on the ambassador, Ismail Çobanoglu.
According to Cavusoglu, the vehicle in which the ambassador was traveling was intercepted when he was preparing a possible transfer of the mission when he was caught in the middle of a skirmish between both sides in the middle of the fragile ceasefire that reigns in the capital that both the Army and the paramilitaries occasionally rape.
“Our ambassador met with both sides and they even helped him reach his destination, but the moment his vehicle entered a street, he began to receive shots,” the minister explained. The diplomat was protected by special forces of the Turkish Army.
The Army and the RSF have held each other responsible for this attack and both sides have repeated that their enemy opened fire on the car with the ambassador inside, and that the diplomat was temporarily detained, according to conflicting statements collected by the Sudanese newspaper. ‘Al-Hadath’.
