November 14 () –
The Turkish authorities have announced at dawn this Monday that they have arrested the woman suspected of having perpetrated the suicide attack on the busy Istiklal avenue in Istanbul, Turkey.
Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu has informed the media that the person who allegedly left the bomb that caused an explosion that has left at least six dead and 81 injured has been detained by the Istanbul Police Department.
“The person who threw the bomb has been arrested. The terrorist organization PKK/PYD is in the frame of our findings. In the near future, we will show them a bounty where those who caused us this pain can experience more and more pain.” , Soylu has declared in statements collected by the TRT television channel.
Through this message, the leader of the ministerial portfolio has linked the attacker with the PKK armed group, whom he has identified as ultimately responsible for the incident.
“The face of terror is bitter, but we will continue this fight to the end no matter the cost. Especially the insincerity of our so-called allies, who hide all the terrorists who appear to be our friends in their own country, or give life to terrorists in the areas they occupy, in the areas they govern, and sending them money from their own senates, is obviously insincere,” Soylu lamented.
A suicide attack carried out this Sunday on Istiklal Avenue has caused the death of six people, while 81 have been injured, two of them being in serious condition.
The vice president of Turkey, Fuat Oktay, confirmed that it was an attack in which a woman, a “kamikaze”, detonated the explosive.
Istanbul has been hit by several explosions in the past, including a 2016 suicide bombing in Istiklal by a suspected Islamic State member that killed five people.
In the same year, the Kurdish militias of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), considered by Turkey to be a terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for a bomb attack that killed 38 people outside a football stadium in the area. from Besiktas in the center of Istanbul.
