Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has signed a total of thirteen agreements valued at more than 50 billion dollars (44.6 billion euros) with his Emirati counterpart, Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan, during his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). after passing through Saudi Arabia.
The Turkish Presidency has indicated in a statement that the parties seek to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and establish a High-Level Strategic Council, which will be chaired by both.
In this sense, he pointed out that relations “have been elevated to a new level of strategic cooperation as a result of these agreements” and has pointed out that this will allow collaboration to be increased in matters such as energy, transport, finance, health, tourism and defense, among other issues.
Erdogan has stressed that his country will guarantee that relations with the UAE are regularly addressed through the aforementioned mechanism. “It will be beneficial to organize the Istanbul Trade and Investment Forum in autumn to present these agreements to the business world,” he said.
Al Nahyan, for his part, has awarded Erdogan the Order of Zayed, the country’s highest civilian decoration named after the nation’s founding father. The Emirati president has assured that this delivery is a sign of gratitude to Erdogan for his efforts to boost ties between the two countries.
