Trump nominates ambassadors to Uruguay and the Dominican Republic

The elected president of the United States, donald trumpannounced on Monday that it nominated Lou Rinaldi as ambassador to Uruguay and Leah Francis Campos as head of mission in the Dominican Republic.

“I am pleased to announce the nomination of Lou Rinaldi to be the next United States ambassador to Uruguay,” Trump posted on his Truth Social social network. “Lou, a successful businessman and lifelong friend, brings a lifetime of experience and a unique perspective to this important role.”

“Lou is a great golfer and will be in a country with some fantastic golf courses. Having grown up in Uruguay, he has a deep knowledge of the country’s culture and history,” Trump said.

He added that “his experience and background make him uniquely qualified to advance the interests of the United States and strengthen the long-standing partnership between the United States and Uruguay. Congratulations, Lou!”

Trump has ties to Uruguay, as he has a luxury apartment complex in Punta del Este, on the South Atlantic coast. It is the only property in South America that bears his name, according to the Trump Organization.

Leah Francis Campos was chosen by Trump as ambassador to the Dominican Republic.

Campos is the sister-in-law of Department of Transportation Secretary-designate Sean Duffy, a former Republican representative. She is also the sister of “Fox & Friends Weekend” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy.

“Leah served our country as a CIA case officer before becoming senior advisor for the Western Hemisphere on the House Foreign Affairs Committee,” Trump said in Truth Social.

“Leah will bring her love of country and her commitment to our national security and prosperity to her position as US ambassador to the Dominican Republic. Congratulations, Leah!”
