MADRID
The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, has confirmed the predictions and announced his father-in-law Massad Boulos, a Lebanese-American businessman, as the new advisor for the Middle East and the Arab world.
“Massad is an accomplished lawyer and a highly respected leader in the business world, with extensive experience in the international arena,” the president-elect announced on his social network, Truth Social.
Boulos’s father and grandfather were figures in Lebanese politics and his father-in-law financed the Free Patriotic Movement, a Christian party aligned with Hezbollah, but has good relations with most parts of the complex Lebanese scene.
Boulos is not only friends with Suleiman Frangieh, a Christian ally of Hezbollah and its candidate for Lebanon’s presidency, but also maintains contacts with the Lebanese Forces Party, a Christian faction radically opposed to the Shiite-Lebanese militia party.
His son Michael is married to Tiffany Trump, the president-elect’s middle daughter, and the businessman’s nomination comes 24 hours after Trump chose another in-law, Charles Kushner, as his candidate for US ambassador to France.
“He is a negotiator and an unwavering defender of peace in the region, he will be a firm defender of the United States and its interests, and I am pleased to have him on our team!” the president-elect stressed about the businessman, one of the names that the American media took completely for granted for his new administration.
