() — Potential Tropical Cyclone Thirteen has developed a well-defined circulation and is now officially Tropical Depression 13, according to the 11:00 pm update from the US National Hurricane Center.
The center of the storm is now about 60 miles west southwest of Curaçao. A hurricane watch remains in effect for the islands of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, and a tropical storm warning is in effect for the coast of Colombia from Riohacha east to the Colombia-Venezuela border.
The cyclone is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm before potentially making landfall on the Guajira Peninsula, Colombia, on Friday morning. Subsequently, Tropical Depression 13 is forecast to strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane before making landfall in Nicaragua on Sunday morning.
