Transforma Alimentos highlighted products developed with CGNA Technology


Three new products for the food industry developed with Science and Technology from the Agrocuicola Nutritional Genomics Center of La Araucanía (CGNA), were selected by the Transforma Alimentos program to be part of the Third “Food Innovation Catalog of Chile”, an initiative promoted by CORFO and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, which recognizes the most innovative products developed in Chile and with high market potential.

CGNA Communications.- The selection of products is carried out by a public-private committee of specialists in the area of ​​food, and the best are chosen in four categories: “Healthy and state-of-the-art foods”; Sustainable system and zero waste”; “Agri-Food Tech”; and “Traceable and secure production chains”.

In the case of CGNA, the products correspond to: Vitagurt PROprobiotic yogurt substitute, 100% vegetable, made from lupine protein (Aluprot-CGNA®), which is the first of its kind developed in the country. SOLUFORTE Omega, food ingredient based on microencapsulated essential fatty acids (EPA and DHA) and finally, PROTECTION, protein shake based on lupine protein (Aluprot-CGNA®), 100% vegetable and fortified with minerals and vitamins, specially designed for athletes and in general for people with high protein requirements.

Ernesto Labra, CGNA Innovation and Development Manager explained that “innovation in the agri-food industry is supported from a technological perspective, with a strong vision of market trends, sustainability and value addition, in close alliance with entrepreneurs and local businesses. Likewise, this recognition implicitly also confirms the quality and relevance of CGNA’s work and, above all, the synergies that occur when there is closeness with entrepreneurs and companies”.


Labra also highlighted that “it is extremely relevant for entrepreneurs and companies to receive this type of recognition, since it confirms the excellence and potential impact of their products, along with encouraging them to face the commercial stage, probably the most intense they will have to experience, due to the usual unexpected challenges that arise.”

The scientific director of the Regional Center of La Araucanía pointed out that “this recognition shows that there are high-level entrepreneurs and companies that dare, that capture science, innovate and have an impact on the market. He also shows that the science and technology developed and financed by the Regional Government of La Araucanía is excellent and relevant. This science allows adding and capturing value in the territory, promoting products with high technological intensity and sophistication, which is precisely what La Araucanía requires. For these developments, “genomics, proteomics, genetics, chemistry, emulsions, microencapsulation, protein techno-functionality, process technologies, among others” were executed.

SOLUFORTE OMEGA (EPA and DHA controlled release)

Description:

The SOLUFORTE OMEGA product from the company SOLUTEC LTDA consists of a food grade ingredient based on a microencapsulated oil rich in EPA and DHA. Said product has the ability to release the microencapsulated oil directly in the stomach, thus improving the bioavailability of omega-3 fatty acids. Likewise, the encapsulation system designed for this ingredient protects essential fatty acids (EPA and DHA) against oxidation during food processing (where it is incorporated), and allows masking the taste and smell of this type of product.

PROTECTION

PREMIUM food supplement, 100% Chilean, plant-based and gluten free, developed in the Araucanía Region. It is a natural food, since it does not have artificial ingredients and its main ingredient is lupine Aluprot-CGNA®.
