Bilateral trade between China and the US hit a record in 2022, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday, citing data from both countries.
Ministry spokesman Shu Jueting said this fully shows that the economic structure between the two countries is “highly complementary.” It also shows the mutually beneficial and win-win nature of economic and trade cooperation, he said.
Shu also said that China-US trade and economic cooperation affects the vital interests of both countries and plays a crucial role in world economic growth.
China has always adhered to open cooperation and offered opportunities to the world through its development, he said.

For its part, the American Chamber of Commerce in China has pointed out that the Chinese market is not an “option” but an “obligation” for US companies, and that it will work with its members to take advantage of new development opportunities.
Ministry spokesman Shu Jueting said this fully demonstrates that the economic structure between the two countries is “highly complementary.”
The US-China Business Council believes that the “linkage” between the US and China will benefit the two peoples, Shu said.
