Tough immigration bill approved in Florida

This new bill only awaits the signature of Governor Ron DeSantis to get underway. The law includes penalties such as fines and jail time for those who transport undocumented immigrants, orders hospitals to verify the immigration status of patients and turn that information over to the state, and prohibits driver’s licenses from any state to undocumented aliens.

With 83 votes in favor and 36 against, the Florida House of Representatives this week approved this project that Rosa Elera, spokeswoman for the Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC), describes as worrisome and anti-immigrant: “This project of law has been seen as anti-immigrant because this going after the families that have variety of status. There is people that are married with a person that can No be regulated, either children that they live with their parents, that also have a status different, people that are low DHAKA, that are students that they came to ages of two either three either four years as minors, relatives that want go out of vacation either bring to their relatives inside of the state, those people they can be found as committing a felony by have a person that this with a status No regulated. And it is that these are just some of the changes that the migrant community would have with this law, if signed by Governor Ron De Santis, who has made illegal migration one of the main discourses of his term.

“We believe that borders matter and we have fought against illegal immigration in the state of Florida, we have put Floridians first and we will continue to do this,” the governor said a few weeks ago before the House of Representatives.

Various organizations such as the Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC), ensure that this legislative package is part of a political campaign movement to gain access to the White House.
