To address the large space demands that they need data centersdue to the rise of tasks of Artificial intelligence, Toshiba has released new ones high capacity hard drives for this type of servers. The new albums of the Mx11 family They are ideal for hyperscale solutions, with capabilities of up to 28 TB per unit. These discs are manufactured for a 24/7 operation and with speeds of 7,200 RPM in a standard 3.5 inch case.
Toshiba’s Mx11 family features the MG11 series with capabilities of up to 24 TB in a format of conventional magnetic recording or CMR and also with the MA11 series that offers up to 28 TB with SMR technology or magnetic staggered recording. These units are helium filled to make use of the technology of microwave assisted magnetic recording (FC-MAMR). They have a 1 GiB buffer that offers a load of up to 550 TB per year and a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 2.5 million hours.
The MG11 series is available with SATA 6Gbps or SAS 12Gbps interfacecapable of delivering sustained maximum speeds of 295 MiB/s. The MA11 series is SATA only, but offers SED options for added security. The availability of these discs is in this month of September for the MG11 and for the last quarter this year in the series MA11.
