In past years, due to the pandemic, several annual video game events had to be suspended, among which was the Tokyo Game Show. Fortunately, the Japanese event will return and more details about the companies attending have just been released.

The Tokyo Game Show 2022, as anticipated by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA), will return in form this year, because after 3 years it will be held in person at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, from September 15 to 18. We remind you that Tokyo Game Show 2020 was a completely digital event and the 2021 edition was hybrid, although with less focus on face-to-face due to the ravages of the pandemic.

As reported at the beginning of the year, Tokyo Game Show 2022 would have the theme “nothing stops gaming” and it was today that the main art was revealed, created again by the illustrator Kukka, who used vibrant colors such as yellow to project a fresh feeling.

Which company will be at the Tokyo Game Show 2022?

Additionally, CESA released the list of companies that will participate in the event according to the last update dating from July 2022. According to the details (via Gematsu), there will be more than 460 companies, 299 from the region and 166 from other parts of the world. It has already been confirmed that there will be more than 1,900 stations and that 583 indie games will participate.

It is noticeable in the list that Microsoft will be part of it and will do so in the general online exhibition section, so we can expect Xbox announcements in the online broadcast. This shows the commitment that Microsoft has with the market in this region and its desire to offer a better proposal.

Sony and Nintendo will also be in attendance, but apparently they won’t have as big an exposure as Microsoft. We say the above because Sony will only appear in an area dedicated to indies, so it will have more of a partner role. On the other hand, Nintendo will only be present in the business meeting section.

In case you missed it: PlayStation fell back to Xbox in Japan for the second time in 1 decade.

However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any announcements for Nintendo or PlayStation, as there will be a plethora of outside companies that will be able to announce projects coming to Nintendo Switch and Sony consoles.

The list includes big names like Square Enix, SEGA, ATLUS, Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, THQ Nordic, Aniplex, Inti Creates, HoYoverse, Capcom, Sqaure Enix and even Konami, so there could be room for some surprises.
