The program Today does not circulate is the project of the CDMX Environment Secretariat (SEDEMA) to control polluting emissions from vehicles that circulate in the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM). With it, an attempt is made to improve air quality, reducing the number of vehicles that can circulate.

What cars and license plates does the Today Does Not Circulate on Saturdays affect?
Hoy No Circula is designed so that all polluting vehicles rest to a greater or lesser extent throughout the week. It applies, according to the calendar and whatever the origin of your registration. The affected cars must not circulate one day during the week and two Saturdays for each month, in a schedule from 05:00 to 22:00 hours.
The calendar indicates that the limitations on Saturdays are rotating. In this case, on May 20, 2023, vehicles with a hologram 2 (they rest every Saturday) or those with a hologram 1 with a license plate ending in an odd number will not be able to circulate, since it is the first Saturday of May.
Despite this, the following exceptions are also contemplated:
- Those that work to electric, natural gas or hybrid
- Those with hologram 0 and 00
- Those who have plaque handicapped
- All those dedicated to transport services urban (includes funeral homes)
- Those who offer school or passenger transport
- Those destined for public safety and/or civil protection
Fines and schedule
The application hours of Hoy No Circula are from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., without exceptions. During this time slot, vehicles that are prohibited from driving through the 16 Mexico City mayors and the suburban municipalities of the State of Mexico indicated above.
