21 Sep. (Portaltic/EP) –
TikTok has two moderation systems, one of them aimed at the most prominent users of the social network, such as ‘influencers’ or celebrities, who treat content differently from ordinary users.
The social network owned by ByteDance offers a different treatment to users it considers “special”, as revealed by leaks from a Trust & Safety team meeting in 2021.
information, shared by Forbesassumes that TikTok has prioritized content moderation for creators with more than 5 million followerswhich also implies a favorable treatment.
That is, if two users, one of them “special”, share the same type of content that can be removed from the platform according to its policies, that of the preferred user is more likely to remain published.
The company has denied the existence of a second moderation system. “TikTok is not more lenient in the moderation of accounts with more than 5 million followers,” spokesperson Jamie Favazza told Forbes, and collected by Europa Press.
This case is reminiscent of Facebook and the program known as ‘Cross check’ or ‘XCheck’which last year raised doubts for allegedly protecting users such as celebrities or politicians, whom it would have allowed publish content that is not normally allowed for other users or for those who would laxly follow the application of its guidelines.
The company denied the facts, although the Advisory Council urged Facebook to explain how the ‘cross check’ works and to be more transparent about the criteria on which it was based.
