The service has proven to be one of the fastest-growing businesses for Chinese TikTok owner ByteDance Ltd., and its European expansion is seen as a push to find alternative markets after the company faces being banned in the US unless TikTok’s parent, China-based ByteDance, divests its stakes in the social media company.
