MADRID 24 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ministry of the Interior of the United Arab Emirates announced this Sunday the arrest of three people suspected of the murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, confirmed by Israeli authorities this Sunday.
In a statement published by the official Emirati agency, WAM, the Ministry celebrates that the arrests have occurred in “record time”, given that the disappearance of the rabbi, who had dual Israeli and Moldovan nationality, was confirmed last Thursday.
The appointment of a special investigation unit “led to the discovery of the victim’s body, the identification and arrest of the perpetrators and the initiation of the necessary legal procedures.” The Ministry does not give more details about the detainees.
Rabbi Kogan was an assistant to Rabbi Levi Yitzchak, the religious leader of the Jewish community in the United Arab Emirates. He also maintained ties with Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg, who died in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008.
Israeli media such as the N12 channel previously indicated that Kogan could have been kidnapped by terrorist elements close to Iran, although at the moment there is no official confirmation of any kind in this regard.
