At least three soldiers and a suspected terrorist have died in several incidents that have occurred in recent hours in Afghanistan, according to authorities.
Two soldiers died on Sunday in Harnai, in Baluchistan, in a shootout with suspected terrorists and another died the same day in Lower Dir, in the province of Khíber Pakhtunjua, in the northwest of the country.
Finally, a “terrorist” has died in clashes with security forces during an operation in Mir Ali, in the North Waziristan region, according to a military statement collected by the Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’. “In addition, weapons and ammunition have been seized,” said the press office of the Pakistani Armed Forces.
The deceased would have participated “actively” in terrorist attacks against the security forces in which civilians died. “They were also implicated in the assassination of Qari Sami, a local Jamiat Ulema i Islam Fazl leader in North Waziristan,” the military explained, referring to an Islamic fundamentalist political party.
In addition, the military have stressed that the residents of the area “have valued the operation and have expressed their full support to eliminate the threat of terrorism in this area.”
