Three more arrested for the far-right coup plot Citizens of the Reich in Germany

The German Federal Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the arrest of three more suspects in the framework of the far-right coup plot known as the Reich Citizens Movement, as reported by public television ARD.

They are two men and a woman arrested in the Hamburg/Lower Saxony and Freudenstadt region accused of belonging to the environment of Henry XIII Prinz Reuss, the far-right aristocrat arrested in December 2022 for belonging to this group, classified as a terrorist organization.

Authorities have launched a series of measures against the group, which says it does not recognize the German state and has been the target of several raids and searches over the past year. Some of the movement’s members have been accused of trying to overthrow the government and planning the kidnapping of Health Minister Karl Lauterbach.

Last December, more than twenty suspects, including the former deputy of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Birgit Malsack-Winkemann. Those arrested belong to said organization, whose alleged leaders have been identified as ‘Rudiger’ and ‘Prince Henrich XIII’. The latter would be the great-great-grandson of Wilhelm II of Germany, the last German emperor and King of Prussia, who was forced to abdicate in 1918 after the First World War.

The objective of the ‘Reichbürger’ would be to restore the I Reich of the 19th century through political and armed means, using active members of the Armed Forces.
