Three members of Al Shabaab executed by firing squad in Somalia

March 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Somali authorities have executed this Wednesday three members of the terrorist group Al Shabaab who collaborated with the execution of several attacks in the African country after posing as doctors and soldiers.

The three men, identified as Mohamed Abdi Nur Jirou, Sharif Barqadle Ayanle and Mohamed Abdkor Omar, were convicted of using false documents to carry out attacks or facilitate the transfer of weapons and fighters in Mogadishu.

According to information collected by the Somali news portal Goobjoog News, the three have been executed by firing squad, in the midst of intensifying security operations against the group, linked to the terrorist organization Al Qaeda.

On the other hand, a Somali military court has sentenced a former “number two” of the Intelligence services to five years in prison for torturing a man detained for his alleged ties to Al Shabaab, as reported by the Somali state agency news, SONNA.

Somalia has increased offensives against Al Shabaab in recent months with the support of clans and local militias as part of a series of decisions taken by the president, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who promised upon taking office to put the fight against terrorism at the center of his efforts to stabilize the African country.
