Three Israeli soldiers were wounded on Monday evening by friendly fire in the West Bank settlement of Beit El, northeast of the town of Al Bireh, in an incident that occurred after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) fired on a vehicle they considered suspicious and its occupants did not respond to their colleagues.
“IDF forces operating in the Binyamin Brigade area recently fired at a vehicle identified by the forces as suspicious, but after an initial investigation it became clear that an Israeli vehicle was accidentally fired at. The incident is currently under investigation,” the IDF statement posted on its X social media account read.
IDF Radio confirmed that three soldiers were wounded in the shooting and that one of them was taken to hospital in moderate condition.
According to a military spokesman, the soldiers opened fire on the vehicle after its passengers did not respond to the arrest procedure of their colleagues.
