At least three people have been killed and eight injured in an African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) helicopter crash.
The mission reported this Sunday that the accident took place on Saturday in Baledogle, in the Lower Shabelle region, south of the capital, Mogadishu.
An ATMIS team was conducting a casualty evacuation training exercise with the Somali Army when the aircraft crashed.
The head of ATMIS, Mohamed El Amine Suef, has conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and has wished a speedy recovery to the injured, who have been evacuated to Mogadishu to receive medical attention.
The mission has also indicated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
