Thousands of people return to protest in the streets of Iran despite the warnings of the Revolutionary Guard

TEHRAN, Oct. 30 (DPA/EP) –

Thousands of people have marched again this Sunday through the streets of Iran in protest at the death in custody last month of the young Mahsa Amini despite the warning this past Saturday by the head of the Revolutionary Guard, Hussein Salami, against a possible repetition of the protests.

Witnesses from the DPA agency have confirmed that the security forces once again used force to repress the demonstrations in various parts of the country.

At the moment there is evidence of numerous concentrations in Tehran, as well as a march in Mashhad, in the northeast of the country.

The Police have used tear gas to clear the march in the capital and even used batons to repress those gathered at the Mashhad concentration, held at a university.

The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard had warned the protesters on Saturday that “the protests end today”, in a message to the participants of the marches that have been touring the country for 40 days in protest of the death in custody of the young woman after her arrest for wearing the veil wrong.

“The protesters must not test the patience of the system,” the general warned on Saturday before addressing the youth of the country directly: “The protests end today. Don’t go out into the streets anymore.”
