17 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Thousands of people have demonstrated this Sunday in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, against the government of the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala.
The demonstrators have carried Czech flags, as well as anti-government banners with inscriptions such as ‘lying government and media’, positioning themselves against the war and calling for the withdrawal of NATO, as reported by the CTK agency.
At the same time, several speakers have called for the resignation of the government due to the rise in energy prices and the support of Ukraine with weapons and have suggested the calling of strikes.
This march has taken place without disturbances, unlike a similar one that took place in March, when part of the protesters tried to break into the National Museum building with the aim of removing the Ukrainian flag.
For this reason, this Sunday there were counter-protesters with Ukrainian and European Union flags in front of the museum. At the beginning of the march, they had to be separated by the Police.
“We are ready as a government to act, (…) to listen to the interests, whether they are from the social partners or from different social groups, but if someone thinks that we are going to act under pressure and give in just because someone takes to the streets, then I’m sure we won’t do it,” the prime minister told the protesters, as reported by the CT24 chain.
