In the last 12 months, prices have risen 64%, the highest figure in almost 30 years. After the demonstrations last Saturday, thousands of people mobilized again in Buenos Aires on Thursday, July 14, in response to a call from radical left organizations.
With our correspondent in Buenos Aires, Théo Conscience.
It was once again in the Plaza de Mayo, the traditional scene of Argentine joy and anger, where thousands of people gathered, fed up with the rising cost of living.
“We are surviving”
“Each time we demonstrate for the same reasons, but nothing changes. Prices go up every day! Today in my neighborhood, a kilo of bread was 300 pesos, and they have already told us that next week it will be 350” explains Daniel Palacio.
In June alone, prices shot up 5%. Noelia Osuna says: “I have children and it is very complicated for me. With prices so high, we can no longer buy meat. We want the prices of basic products, such as milk and bread, to drop, because at the moment we are not living We are surviving.”
“It is always the people who suffer”
Ten days after a new rise in prices caused by the resignation of Economy Minister Martín Guzmán, the young woman calls on the Government to assume its responsibility: “The Government should roll up its sleeves and stop arguing with each other, because in the end it is always the people who suffers,” he denounces.
Not being received by the new Economy Minister, Silvina Batakis, the protesters have announced new mobilizations in the coming weeks.
