The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has recorded 18 Palestinian deaths in actions by the Israeli Armed Forces in the West Bank so far in 2022, making this year the deadliest in the West Bank since 2005.
OCHA’s bimonthly protection of civilians report lists 18 Palestinians dead and more than 200 wounded, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The most serious incident was the Israeli covert operation in which six Palestinians were killed and 28 more wounded in Nablus and Jenin on October 25 and November 3.
Five other Palestinians died in four incidents that occurred in various parts of the West Bank, the last one a 15-year-old girl killed this Monday.
In addition, the OCHA includes in its report that the Israeli forces restrict the movement of Palestinians and have demolished, confiscated or forced to evacuate 54 properties in East Jerusalem and Area C of the West Bank, alleging the absence of licenses issued by the Israeli authorities. Seven of these buildings were built with humanitarian aid or cooperation.
Consequently, 35 people have been expelled from their homes, including 16 minors, and nearly 200 more people have been affected.
Up to 41 of these properties were located in Zone C and eleven of them were seized without any prior notice, so their owners have not been able to file an appeal.
Thirteen other buildings were demolished in East Jerusalem, six of them houses that were destroyed by their owners to avoid having to pay fines to the Israeli authorities.
In addition, OCHA denounces 23 incidents in which Jewish settlers have interrupted the shaking of olive groves in various ways. Ten Palestinians and eight members of the Israeli security forces have been injured in these incidents. More than 350 olive trees have been damaged and large quantities of olives have been stolen.
