( Spanish) – After several years out of circulation, the permanent driving license process could return to Mexico City.
The head of Government of the capital, Clara Brugada, assured at press conference This Monday he will send an initiative to the Congress of Mexico City to reform the local Tax Code and allow the right to this type of license.
He added that, if approved by the local Congress, the Government of Mexico City could begin issuing the permanent license as of November 2024. The process would be open until December 2025.
Currently, permanent driver’s licenses are valid in Mexico City for those who obtained them before 2007.
