( Spanish) – This Wednesday, Buenos Aires will be the scene of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), a key event that brings together political leaders, businessmen and academics related to right-wing ideas and conservatism in the world.
The summit will take place in the center of the city, at the Hilton hotel, located in the exclusive neighborhood of Puerto Madero, from 10 in the morning and will continue throughout the day.
Hours before the lectures, this Tuesday night, there will be the Formal Gala dinner.
It is the first time that Argentina hosts the CPAC and will feature the participation of prominent figures such as Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of the future president of the United States and co-chair of the Republican National Committee; defeated Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake; Ron Paul, founder of the Libertarian movement in North America and the leader of Vox in Spain, Santiago Abascal, among others, as confirmed by Soledad Cedro, CEO of the event, in an interview with Radio con vos.
In addition, the former president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro will participate virtually, since the justice of his country dictated a restriction on him leaving his country.
President Javier Milei will be in charge of closing the conference in which the Ministers of Security, Patricia Bullrich, and the Ministers of Economy, Luis “Toto” Caputo, will also participate.
Although US President-elect Donald Trump, a frequent guest at CPAC conferences in his country, will not be in Buenos Aires, Cedro confirmed that he will be present “in some way at the event,” although he avoided giving details. . “I can’t say much more about how it’s going to be,” he said.
This statement generated expectations about a possible virtual intervention or a recorded message, considering the good relationship that Trump demonstrated with the Argentine president.
Another unknown is whether businessman Elon Musk will send some kind of message.
CPAC was founded in 1964 in the United States with the stated objective of “preserving and protecting the values of life, liberty and property” in that country, according to its official site.
Over the years it has established itself as one of the most influential platforms for the political right worldwide and today it went from being an academic and political meeting to becoming a media and cultural phenomenon.
In February, the CPAC event in Maryland was well attended and served as a platform for the Republican campaign. Then, the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, and Milei himself participated, who got his first photo with Trump.
The two met again in November at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s club in Palm Beach, where a business version of the summit was held.
