This is how the national drill day passed in the country’s capital

Colombians participated this Wednesday in a National Emergency Response Drill, an exercise that seeks to test and strengthen citizens’ reaction capacity in risk situations, as well as promote the culture of prevention in the country.

The drill, according to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), It was done in 31 of the 32 departments of the country and in 939 municipalities.

The drill, according to the UNGRD, sought among other issues to improve planning, coordination and communication between public and private entities and the community for an effective response to natural phenomena.

During the exercise, The participants went to specific sites guided by brigade members who had previously received training to handle possible emergencies such as earthquakes, frosts, electrical storms, gales, tropical cyclones, floods, hailstorms, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, avalanches and fires, inter alia.

At the meeting points there were ambulances and lifeguards who faced risk situations simulated by the participants.

In Bogotá, an activity was carried out at the El Dorado international airport to measure the response capacity in the event of a public health emergency.

On the other hand, it was reported that to strengthen the preparation and response capacities of children and adolescents, the UNGRD joined with the Ministry of Education and the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICNF) to instruct minors in these situations.
